(Gilroy, CA) – Members of Teamsters Local 350, part of the Recology South Valley Clerical unit in Gilroy, CA, voted on September 18, 2023, with near-unanimous support for a robust new contract. This five-year agreement includes a substantial economic package that aligns their compensation with their counterparts in the South Bay region of the Bay Area, in addition to improvements to benefits, contract language, and worker protections.
The ten-person clerical unit ratified their agreement following successful negotiations with their colleagues in the drivers and mechanics unit at the same facility. Both ratifications are significant as they bring economic parity to all workers at the facility in comparison to their counterparts in the South Bay region of the Bay Area.
The bargaining committee was led by Negotiator Robert Sandoval, with bargaining unit members Adrianna Munoz-Noriega and Pam Poth playing vital roles.
“With unity and perseverance, we have achieved the most substantial monetary compensation ever! This contract and the resulting pay increases will provide much-needed financial stability to our members and their families. I want to express my gratitude to Teamsters Local 350 representative Robert Sandoval for spearheading the negotiations and always having our best interests in mind,” said bargaining committee member Adriana Munoz-Noriega.
“I commend this bargaining unit for their direct approach during the proposal phase, their patience during negotiations, and their trust in the process that ultimately allowed us to surpass our goals. For too long, this unit was paid below the area standard due to being considered a different market, but that is no longer the case. I’m proud to say that we’ve raised the bar with this group, and they and their families will reap the benefits,” commented Business Representative Robert Sandoval.
Teamsters Local 350, chartered on October 8, 1936, represents members in the Solid Waste & Recycling Industry, Bakery & Laundry Division, and Public Sector Division in San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and San Benito Counties.
