Members at Recology San Bruno Unanimously Ratify Landmark Five-Year Contract 12/23/24

San Bruno, CA – December 23, 2024 – In the early morning hours, before starting their routes, the 31-member bargaining unit at Recology San Bruno unanimously ratified a new five-year collective bargaining agreement. The contract represents a significant victory for the unit, securing the most lucrative economic package in its history, along with critical improvements to working conditions and benefits.

“I am extremely proud of the work that we accomplished as a group,” said Robert Sandoval, President and Lead Negotiator. “While the process took longer than expected, we prioritized getting the right contract over settling for mediocrity. We were prepared to take all necessary steps to meet our demands. We achieved every goal we set, securing substantial language improvements that will benefit our members now and in the future. This is the best economic package this unit has ever received, and they deserve every cent."

The new contract includes the addition of Juneteenth as a thirteenth paid holiday, making this the first Recology bargaining unit in Local 350 to attain that benefit. In addition, the codification of several key past practices, abeyance language in the case of suspensions, and full maintenance of benefits.

The bargaining committee was comprised of Shop Steward Mike Crudeli and veteran driver Brother Dominic Cresci, both of whom had previously served on three contract negotiations.

“I would like to thank Robert, John, and Local 350 for the long, hard-fought contract battle,” said Crudeli. “Hitting the numbers we did for a small unit like ours was a big win. The Bay Area cost of living has increased, and we as drivers need to be compensated to take care of our families – this puts us there, and the unanimous vote shows that.”

Brother Cresci echoed the sentiment, adding, “We appreciate Local 350 leadership for representing us during these contract negotiations. It was a tough fight, but we came out of it with a solid contract!”

Chartered on October 8, 1936, Teamsters Local 350 represents members throughout San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and San Benito Counties who work in the public sector, the solid waste and recycling industry, the laundry industry, and other various trades.
